Field Guidelines for Florence Aero Modelers (FAM)
- The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Safety Code shall be observed at all times.
- This is an AMA chartered flying field. No member or guest may fly unless they have in their possession, at the field, their valid AMA membership cards.
- Upon arrival at the field, your current AMA card, with FAM Club sticker attached will be placed on the “PILOT BOARD” in the area of your transmitter frequency. 72 MHz transmitter channels will be self-managed.
- The “Town of Florence Park Rules for using the Florence Airpark” apply.
- Non-FAM club members and guests wanting to fly shall be with a FAM club member during their visit. The FAM club member will be responsible for the actions and safety of Non-FAM members and guests.
- Guests with valid AMA membership using the FAM flying field for more than three (3) days shall obtain a Guest Membership. Time greater than the Guest Membership, they shall obtain a full year. (See Membership Application)
- Safety in the Pit Area. Fueling of aircraft with a liquid shall only occur outside the fenced pit area. Also, no aircraft shall be parked on the ground inside the fenced pit area.
- Aircraft can only be run/started in the starting table area. No fueled or electrics shall be run in the pits. A second person or restraining stand, if possible, should always hold the aircraft during starting. Engine break-ins or testing shall be done in the designated test/break-in area. It is always recommended to never fly alone.
- Do not taxi your aircraft to or from the hold line. Carry or hold on to your aircraft until it is at the hold line.
- Only four (4) aircraft shall be flying at the same time. Pilots shall LOUDLY announce their intentions “Taking Off”... “Landing”... “On the Field”... “Clear”...“Touch & Go”...“Dead Stick”.... Etc. Dead stick landings have field priority.
- No Flying behind the pilot safety line which extends the full length of runway. When flying in the traffic pattern, maintain left-hand or right-hand traffic as determined by existing wind conditions. High-speed passes shall be performed beyond the East edge of the runway. Aerobatics and 3-D shall be performed beyond the centerline of the runway.
- All new and inexperienced pilots who cannot solo fly their aircraft need to ask for assistance from an intro Pilot Instructor.
- The FAM Board shall act as the final authority over enforcement of the Guidelines. It shall be the responsibility of every club member or guest to follow these flying site guidelines for the safe operation of their model aircraft.
